I saw these guys preparing to set up a protest outside the station I commute to in London, assumed they were for real with their protest for a 4 day week and snapped a few shots. I then looked closer at the photos and noticed the web address on the cards and placards for something …

In praise of in body image stabilisation
I genuinely cannot believe I took this shot with the so called “crippled” sensor Olympus E-P3 but the different it makes having image stabilisation is out of this world (even versus cameras like the X100). Yes, the E-M5 has better everything (stabilisation, dynamic range, high ISO, resolution) but the E-P3 is still a good camera. …
Street Photography with Olympus 75mm F1.8 Lens – Part 2
So again, I popped out in my lunchbreak to test the Oly 75m. Again it impressed. Today was a good bit brighter than yesterday so the first thing I noticed was the E-M5 blinking an over exposure warning when I set it to F1.8. Luckily I had an ND Filter with me that I used …
Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm 1:1.8 Lens
So this arrived today in the post, packed up in so much packaging the postie must have thought I was having a barbecue delivered. It is a fantastic lens and looks the part on the E-M5: In any event, I’ve been waiting for this one with bated breath. It seemed at the time of purchase …
Daniel and the Apple
Some lovely shots of my son in the garden with a fallen apple, having a moment of confusion with a plastic spade and having fun with some chalk (clearly he is a prodigy, writing his name and all that). Give it the right conditions and the X100 shines. It really isn’t so far away from …
Olympic Torch Relay – City of London
So I had spent the last however long laughing at the torch relay. I couldn’t really understand what the fuss was about. Today it hit the city and, thanks to a delay to my train (thanks First Capital Connect), I wasn’t able to make it to St Pauls in time to see the torch relay …
City of London Japan Festival 2012
Today I visited the Japan Festival in Broadgate circle. I expected it to be the usual Broadgate event (a bit silly) but nothing of the sort. The quote below explains it better than I can. “March 2011 saw Japan facing an unprecedented serious of disasters in short succession which devastated cities and towns in Tohoku, …
1903 Di Dion Bruton 8CV
I often pop out at lunchtime, trying to find interesting things to shoot. It doesn’t always pan out – the stage at Broadgate for some kind of Japanese festival is still going up stubbornly slowly. Imagine my surprise when my other half told me that there was a classic car parked over the road from …
Crash, bang, wallop
Came across the aftermath of an attempt to drive through a bollard on my way home. More seriously, the passenger compartment was fine, the car much less so (nevertheless I have obscured the numberplate). No sign of the police or occupants. I reported it and carried on home.
Myddelton House Gardens
I visited Myddelton House Gardens in Enfield in yesterday’s sun and took some amazing photos of flowers and plants with my X-Pro1 and 60mm F2.4, a really lovely combination. I’ve never really liked the output from this lens before, which I can only put down to me being a bit fickle – it’s actually fantastic!
